Planning & Building Regulation Applications

Most works of construction, alteration and extension to buildings will require approval from the local authority under The Town & Country Planning Acts and The Building Regulations before work can begin.

Since April 2002 the replacement of windows and doors is now subject to the Building Regulations. If your window installer is not FENSA registered then you will need to make a Building Regulation appliaction before the work is commenced.

In many cases extensions or alterations to your private house may also need Party Wall Notices to be served on your neighbours.

Applications usually need to be accompanied by detailed drawings, structural calculations, heat loss calculations and sometimes, in the case of planning applications, supporting evidence to promote your proposal.

We can advise you on what applications need to be made and prepare the appropriate documentation on your behalf. We will liaise with the local authority whilst the applications are being processed and keep you informed of the developments.

The applications can be for new buildings, alterations, extensions or refurbishment.

Plans and drawings are prepared using a Computer Aided Drawing system (AutoCAD) which is widely used throughout the architectural and engineering profession.
