Building Design

Efficient use of available space and appropriate design is paramount to obtaining full potential for the use of a building.

We can prepare a feasibility study, considering all available information in terms of the site and your particular needs.

The likely procedure would be to make an initial inspection, carry out a measured survey and discuss your requirements. Plans of the site and floor plans and elevations as existing would then be prepared, as appropriate for the work envisaged.

Outline sketch plans, based on initial discussions, would then be prepared for your consideration. The scheme would the be fine tuned to incorporate any amendments or other options. An approximation of the cost of the work can also be provided at this stage.

Once the outline schme is agreed, detailed drawings would be prepared for application to the local authority under the Planning Acts and Building Regulations.

Advice about the necessity to serve notices to your neighbours under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 would alo be provided.

The design work can be for new buildings, alterations, extensions, loft conversions, improvements or refurbishment.

Wherever possible, a number of alternative solutions can be considered to provide the most suitable and economic means of achieving satisfactory project completion.

When a scheme has been agreed, and appropriate approvals received, we can arrange appropriate contracts to get the work implemented or assist you in appointing suitable builders and/or monitor the work during construction.

We can offer all or some of the stages outlined above (eg, only obtaining local authority approvals) depending upon your requirement.

Plans and drawings are prepared using a Computer Aided Drawing system (AutoCAD) which is widely used throughout the architectural and engineering profession.

Measured surveys and record drawings can also be produced for historical or property port folio purposes.
